In today’s interview, we meet Ishaan Saxena, who has shared his lived experience in our storybooks – Ishaan’s sibling bond and Ishaan’s playdate.
Q) Ishaan, Please introduce yourself to our readers.
Ans. My name is Ishaan, your friendly neighbourhood adventure enthusiast! Running, skating, and swimming are my superpowers. I love speed and rollercoasters! When I am not in motion, I am grooving to the melodies of old Hindi film songs! Food is my passion and exploring various cuisines is my hobby. I love traveling with my family and together, we have fun and adventures.
Q) Please share your thoughts about the books that feature you and the incidents related in the books
Ans. I have realised that if I don’t write and explain what I feel, sometimes people draw the wrong conclusion. They may even become sad. So it is not only other people’s responsibility to try and understand me. I also have to do my part.
Q) How did it feel to see your lived experience in an illustrated book?
Ans. I like that some of my stories are now in books – it might help other people in understanding kids like us more easily.
Q) Please share your thoughts on inclusion and how we can work towards a better tomorrow.
Ans. People are mostly kind – its just that they don’t understand. So, for a better tomorrow, we have to focus on how to get people to understand. Acceptance will follow.
