Our Storybooks

At Anupam Prayaas Foundation, we believe that early exposure to the values of inclusion and understanding can shape a more compassionate and open-minded future. That’s why we are excited to introduce our unique series of storybooks designed specifically for school-aged children. These books are crafted to introduce the concept of neurodiversity and promote inclusivity in a positive and engaging way.

Through relatable characters, creative storytelling, and vibrant illustrations, our storybooks explore the beauty of differences, showing children that every individual – regardless of how they think, learn, or interact with the world – is valuable. The stories are carefully designed to foster empathy, respect, and understanding, helping young readers recognize that differences are not something to fear or misunderstand, but rather something to embrace and celebrate.

Each book highlights the unique strengths and abilities of characters with various neurodiverse conditions such as autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and others, helping children see that these differences are a natural part of the human experience. By presenting neurodiversity in a relatable and accessible way, we hope to build a generation of children who approach diversity with curiosity, kindness, and acceptance.

Our storybooks are not just about educating children – they’re about creating positive, lasting change in how we view and interact with others. Through fun and inspiring tales, we aim to empower children to recognize that every individual has something valuable to offer, and that inclusion benefits everyone. These books are tools for teachers, parents, and caregivers to start meaningful conversations about differences, ensuring that children grow up with a deeper appreciation for the diversity that makes our world richer and more vibrant.

By introducing neurodiversity and inclusion in a fun, non-judgmental, and approachable way, we hope to spark curiosity and understanding in the hearts and minds of young readers – building a future where kindness, empathy, and inclusion are at the core of every community.

These storybooks are the brainchild of our creative director – Anudeep Kandula, a non-speaking autistic who believes in the power of stories and sharing lived experiences as a foundation to build empathy that can slowly evolve to embracing neurodiversity wholeheartedly. As a neurodivergent individual himself, he has ensured that the lived experiences are narrated and presented in a respectable manner.

We have given away a kit containing 30 story books based on the lived experience of the neurodivergent individuals. With presence in over 15 cities across India and active collaborations with other NGOs we are reaching over 150 schools and more than 40000 children in our first year. The animated versions make the storybooks more engaging to young minds.

Every story, a spark of light,
A tale that turns the dark to bright.
In each of us, a story lives,
A narrative that love can give.

Through stories shared, compassion grows,
A world of empathy it shows.
We learn that in each heart, we find
The same hopes, the same dreams, the same mind.

In every story, we see our own,
In every face, we’re not alone.
For stories bind, they help us see,
That we are one, in unity.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can schools access these inclusive storybooks?

Absolutely. One of our core missions is giving away illustrated storybook kits to inclusive schools. We also have a dedicated team of Anupam Mitr volunteers and storytellers across India who visit schools and libraries to bring these stories to life.

How do Anupam Prayaas storybooks help build empathy in children?

Our storybooks build empathy through “Authentic Representation.” By using real life experiences of Autistic individuals at the heart of our stories, we allow neurotypical children to see the world through their eyes. This shift in perspective transforms “differences” into “unique strengths.”
Furthermore, these stories act as “Social Bridges.” When a classroom reads them together, it creates a shared language for discussing sensory needs and inclusive play. This normalizes diversity and encourages students to practice the Anupam Promise – to be a friend who understands and includes everyone.

Can I access animated versions of these stories?

Yes! We have transformed all of them into animated narratives. You can watch these on our Blog or YouTube channel.
