Anupam Prayaas Foundation with Golpodidi in Kolkata

This International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we are not just marking a date – we are igniting a movement.

At Anupam Prayaas Foundation, we believe stories have the power to reshape mindsets, spark empathy, and break stereotypes. This year, we are celebrating by shattering long-held myths about disabilities through what we know best – inclusive storytelling and representation.

As part of our celebrations, we conducted two special storybook giveaways and storytelling sessions in Army Public School, Fort Williams, Kolkata and Ankur Shiksha Niketan, Duttabad, Kolkata. Led by our passionate team member, Dr. Priyanka Chatterjee – Golpodidi – these sessions brought alive the world of neurodiversity for young minds. Children explored characters who think, feel, learn, and express differently – yet belong beautifully in the same world.

Through engaging narratives, students discovered that disability is not a limitation but a different way of experiencing the world. They asked questions, shared reflections, and learned that inclusion begins with understanding and empathy. Our storybooks became mirrors and windows – mirrors for those who saw themselves represented and windows for others to see perspectives they had never encountered before.

Because when children read stories that celebrate every mind, inclusion stops being a concept – it becomes a culture.

Together, we are raising a generation that embraces differences with pride and compassion.
